Mobility of land

Mobility of land

Land is a factor of production. Mobility means the tendency to change. We can divide the concept of mobility into 2 main kinds. One is Geographical mobility and the other is Occupational mobility. This concept is confusing for most of the people, but I will try my best to explain it to you.

Geographical mobility is related to the ability to move from one place to another. Can you take a car from one place to another? YES. Can you take an area of land from one place to another? NO.

You cannot simply pick up land and move it to the next place. So you can deduce that land does not have Geographical mobility.

Occupational mobility is the ability to do different tasks. Can you use the same area of land to build a school or build a shopping mall? YES.

You can use the same land for different tasks. So you can deduce that the land has Occupational mobility.
